I'M EXCITED TO OFFER YOU A NEW DIGITAL PORTRAIT SERVICE WITH GUARANTEED LIKENESS!
Here's how it works. You send me a photo (or if you live in the Raleigh area, I will be happy to take some photos for no additional charge). I create your portrait by hand the old fashioned way with one important difference-- I paint (or draw) on my iPad Pro. When the portrait is completed to your satisfaction, it will be printed on museum quality natural acid free watercolor paper.
If you're commissioning a digital oil painting, it will be printed on canvas and stretched onto wooden bars. I will then paint with real oil paint on top of the printed portrait to give it the texture and appearance of a traditional oil painting.
If you're still a bit confused by the whole digital thing, you can check out my process video below. As you can see, I'm not using apps or computer trickery to convert a photo into a fake "painting".
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF A DIGITAL PORTRAIT?
1. Money. My digital portraits are slightly less expensive and the quality is the same.
2. You can order multiple prints for a small fee (approximately $20 per each additional paper print). Great for grandparents, etc!
3. The final product is virtually indistinguishable from a traditional portrait.
4. Working on the iPad Pro allows me to easily make changes to the portrait. This means you can request unlimited changes and I can accommodate them (without worrying I'm going to tear a hole in the paper with my eraser!)
5. I can work in any medium (except sculpture, duh).
6. I can zoom when I work on the iPad Pro which helps me nail the teeny tiny details.
7. I love drawing and painting on the iPad Pro! You're might be thinking That sounds like an advantage for you, not for me. But the greatest lesson I learned in art school was this: When the artist has fun, it shows.
8. A cool time-lapse process video is included with your purchase.
WHAT ARE THE DISADVANTAGES OF A DIGITAL PORTRAIT?
1. Due to the size constraints of my iPad Pro, I can only fit one subject per portrait (and there's no room for feet). If you'd like a full figure portrait or multiple subjects in a single portrait, I'm afraid you'll need to go the traditional route.
WHAT IF I STILL PREFER A TRADITIONAL OIL, CHARCOAL, OR PASTEL PORTRAIT?
No problem! I offer those as well.
